EVENT FUNDING
Below are details and contacts for EVENT/GROUP FUNDING. We advise that you apply through all resources of GAPSA (including Discretionary, Student group, and Academic event funding) before reaching out to SASgov for discretionary funds.
Your level of outreach will affect your application.
The following programs are designed for application by groups for organizing events whether they be conferences or other meetings and group events. Details of the major funds are:
1. The SASgov Discretionary Fund is funded by SASgov and is given selectively.
2. GAPSA has 4 different funds available. All of them can be applied for with a single application:
i. GAPSA Discretionary Funding
ii. GAPSA Research Council Academic Event Funding
iii. GAPSA Student Group Event Funding
iv. GAPSA Synergy Funding
3. Interdisciplinary GAP Funding for events that involve students from other graduate schools at Penn.

INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLY:
​
To apply for discretionary funding, please fill out the following form and attach to the form the following documents:
​
1. A 1-2 page proposal describing the nature and purpose of the event- and the funding amount requested. Please include details such as the date, time, and location of the event as well as the estimated number of presenters/speakers and attendees. If the event has been funded by SASGov in the past, please mention so in the proposal.
2. An overall itemized budget with estimated event-related costs. Please indicate how much funding is being requested from SASGov and other funding sources. If the event has been funded by SASGov in the past, please include the previous funded budget and the current budget.
3. A maximum 500-word document detailing the plan and changes to the budget for the event due to new or existing COVID-19 protocols according to University Public Heath Guidance and University Life- https://coronavirus.upenn.edu/content/public-health-guidance and https://home.vpul.upenn.edu/
4. A completed PowerPoint (template here).

NOTE: Applications must complete two rounds of evaluations, thus applicants are strongly encouraged to submit materials at least 45 days in advance of the event to allow sufficient scheduling time for review.

Please use the SASGov logo for your event flyers and promotional materials to reflect our sponsorship (logo found here: http://www.sasgov.sas.upenn.edu/promotional-materials).

Please also send us photos of the event as well as a blurb summarizing the event and SASGov's role (send these materials to sasgov-finance@sas.upenn.edu AND/OR sasgov-paffairs@sas.upenn.edu). Failure to send event photos and the blurb will result in your event being ineligible for discretionary funding next year.)
GAPSA ACADEMIC EVENT FUNDING

The 4 funds can now be applied together in the GAPSA Common App which is available at https://form.jotform.com/72870398092163. In that application form, in Section 3: Fund Referral, select Yes on all the options as that will make you eligible for all funds. Also, in addition to filling the Common App, you should register online as a student group on http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/osa/gopenn.html. The registration is free, and you do not need to do anything apart from entering the details on the above website.

INTERDISCIPLINARY GAP FUNDING (OpeN THROUGHOUT YEAR)
If your event will involve interest from students of any of the other 11 graduate schools at Penn (Graduate School of Education, Social Policy & Practice, Law, Wharton, Annenberg School of Communication, Engineering, Weitzman School of Design, Medicine, Nursing, Dental and Veterinary School), you are eligible to apply for this fund to cover events of that type.
