The third annual STEM Pop Talks Competition was held on November 13th in Berger Auditorium (Skirkanich Hall). 20 competitors from Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Engineering each gave 60 second talks describing their research without using any scientific jargon, props, or images. There were about 80 audience members who actively participated throughout the event, and four professors served as judges. The feedback from this event has been overwhelmingly positive, that it has become a relaxed environment for students to practice describing their research to those with little or no scientific background, and having the bonus of prizes and dinner always helps. It also was a great opportunity for students to meet other graduate students.

Pop Talks was made possible with partial funding from SASgov's discretionary funds.
